||The Association shall be called
the NEWBURY AND DISTRICT BADMINTON ASSOCIATION
and shall be affiliated to Berkshire County Badminton Association.
||The Association shall consist
of Clubs duly affiliated to their County Association and players
playing badminton in accordance with the laws and regulations
laid down by the International Badminton Federation.
||The Objects of the Association
shall be :-
- To organise and control
the Newbury and District Badminton Leagues, and such other
competitions and events as shall be deemed appropriate.
- To advance the interests
of the sport of badminton and the players associated with
the game in every way possible
- To employ the funds of
the Association in a manner as shall be deemed for the
best interests of the game.
||The Officers of the Association
shall be the Chairman, District Secretary, Treasurer and Fixture
Secretary, who shall be elected at an Annual General Meeting
Nominations for the above positions must be submitted in
writing to the District Secretary no later than 31st
March. Each nomination must be proposed and seconded by
a registered member of a currently affiliated club. In the
event of insufficient nominations being received by the
prescribed date, nominations for unfilled positions may
be taken from the floor at the AGM.
||The affairs of the Association
shall be managed by an Executive Committee consisting of the
Officers ex-officio and a minimum of three and a maximum of
five other persons to be elected annually at the AGM
||The control of the Association
shall be vested in a General Committee consisting of members
of the Executive Committee and one nominated representative
from each club.
||An AGM shall be held at which
only officers and members of the Executive Committee, and
TWO representatives from each of the affiliated clubs in the
past season shall be allowed to vote. Ten voting members shall
form a quorum.

The financial end of year
in 30th June. Accounts will be presented at the First General
Committee Meeting of the new season.
||The AGM shall be held no later
than 31st May in any one year. Any proposed changes
to the Constitution or Rules must be received in writing by
the District Secretary no later than 31st March.
Four weeks notice shall be given of the AGM in the form of
an Agenda which will include any proposed changes to the Constitution
||The Constitution or Rules of
the Association shall not be altered or rescinded except by
a majority vote at an AGM or Extraordinary General Meeting
(EGM). In the event of a tied vote the status quo shall be
To call an EGM, requests from ten or more Affiliated Clubs
must be received in writing, by the District Secretary of
the Association. Four weeks notice should be given to all
Clubs of the date for the EGM.
||The General Committee will
be expected to meet at least once between AGM's. Ten voting
members shall form a quorum at a General Committee meeting.
The committee shall have the power to co-opt such non-voting
members as it considers necessary, and to appoint sub-committees
as considered necessary.
||The Executive Committee will
be expected to meet a minimum of three times between AGM's.
Four voting members shall form a quorum at an Executive Committee
meeting. The Executive Committee shall have power to co-opt
such members as it's business may require, and to appoint
sub-committees as considered necessary.
||Any point not covered by the
Rules or this Constitution or in need of clarification shall
be dealt with by the General Committee whose decision
must be final.
||All protests and complaints
must reach the District Secretary of the Association in writing
on or before the 7th day following any incident
causing complaint. The matter shall then be considered by
the Executive Committee whose decision shall be final, subject
to the right of appeal to the General Committee.
||Appeals against any decision
of the Executive Committee to the General Committee on any
matter must be made to the District Secretary of the Association
in writing on or before the 7th day after the decision
was posted. The appeal shall be considered by the General
Committee whose decision is then final.
